Liberty Science Center

Hopefully if you are a parent and live in New York City or northern New Jersey, you have already visited Liberty Science Center. It is a wonderful place to visit again and again – especially with kids. There are some special programs that I’d like to share with you.

Liberty Science Center has a very nice ”Young Guests Guide” which highlights some of the exhibits that younger children will enjoy. Gift certificates can also be purchased for the museum and make great birthday or holiday gifts.

Liberty Science Center has extensive educational offerings. Young Learner Programs are available for children (either ages 3-5 or 4-6, depending on the class) and are open to the public and a variety of classes and workshops are available for a wider range of ages as well. It’s not too late to sign up for the “Build a Kite” series in the Someone Special ‘n Me Wednedsay Workshops (June 17 & 24). Additionally, there is a wide variety of educational programs available to school groups. If your child’s school is not already participating in these programs, you should encourage them to do so.

All of Liberty Science Center’s educational programs – both those open to the public and available to schools – are being expanded this coming fall (2009). So be sure to check the website as fall approaches to take advantage of these programs.
