Mother’s Day and Cinco De Mayo

Tissue Paper Flowers:

We love these tissue paper flowers  from WikiHow for Cinco de Mayo.

Nick Jr. has instructions for making a different type of tissue paper flower  for Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day Cards:

We love this fabulous looking Mother’s Day card (see photo) using gold metal tooling from Art Projects for Kids that also allows kids to experiment with embossing (creating raised impressions)  and debossing (creating depressions rather than raised impressions).  We also liked Pamela’s comment on this site that thick yarn that has been glued to cardboard makes for a nice card when topped off with aluminum foil and colored with sharpies.

For younger children, Celebrations.com suggests using handprints.  We agree, anything with handprints will make for a special card.  They suggest making this a tradition so mom will have a special record of how much her children have grown.

Mother’s Day Presents:

If you have been practicing making tissue paper flowers, why not make this Tissue Paper Flower Topiary from Craft jr. (be careful- pins are involved)

Another idea from 4 Crazy Kings is to make a mothers day necklace using model magic.
