Free Kids Classes in Battery Park

s2Battery Park City Parks Conservancy offers various FREE kids classes all summer long and getting there on the ferry is all part of the fun! The quality of these classes are outstanding, offering a nice array of craft materials, oversized books at preschool art, toys, and a number of real soccer instructors and a ball for each child. Here is a summary of free weekly events:

Free Soccer Classes (take place at the Ballfield, east of Tear Drop Park)
4 year olds: Tuesdays, 2:30-3:15
5-8 year olds: Tuesdays: 3:30-4:15
9-12 year olds: Tuesdays: 4:30-5:30

Free Basketball Classes (take place at Nelson Rockefeller Park, north west field, right on the waterfront north of the ferry stop)
4-5 year olds: Mondays & Fridays 3:30-4:30
7+ year olds: Monday & Fridays 4:30-5:30

Free Gardening Classes (takes place at Nelson Rockefeller Park - see above)
3-5 year olds: Tuesday 3:15-3:45

Free Preschool Art (takes place at Nelson Rockefeller Park - see above)
0-4 year olds: Thursdays 10:30-12:00

Free Preschool Play (takes place at Robert Wagner Jr Park - southern most tip of Battery Park, near the Statue of Liberty Ferry)
0-4 year olds: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 10:00-12:00

Free Art & Games (takes place at Nelson Rockefeller Park - see above)
5+ years old: Thursdays 3:30-5:30

Wednesdays in Teardrop Park (games, arts & crafts)
All ages, Wednesday 3:30-5:30

Don’t forget that you can also borrow games and sports equipment from the information kiosk at Rockefeller Park House right across from the ferry for FREE.
